(ALEXANDRIA, VA) – The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP) today announced the appointment of Susan Hilaski as director of standards promotion and adoption, effective Sept. 2. Hilaski brings more than 20 years of relevant work experience, having previously served as the director of marketing & standards adoption for the Petroleum Convenience Alliance for Technology Standards (PCATS).

Hilaski will lead the Association’s push for the adoption of the International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC) and all of APSP’s American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and International Code Council (ICC) technical standards.

“We are happy to have Susan’s knowledge and experience at APSP,” Carvin DiGiovanni, Senior Director, Technical & Standards. “Her technical background and experience in standards adoption will be key in promoting the adoption of APSP’s ANSI-certified standards and the ISPSC. She will be able to work with industry stakeholders and key policy makers across the country to promote the use of APSP standards as the model for all swimming pool and spa standards.”

Hilaski has experience working with Fortune 500 companies, trade associations and federal and state agencies as well as international associations. As a consultant, she has worked on initiatives to build brand awareness, increase customer traffic and drive sales. Prior to performing consulting services, Hilaski served as a project manager for BP where she was a price rollback coordinator and oversaw a brand-wide pump loyalty program that saved the company millions of dollars and strengthened customer relationships at over 8,000 convenience store locations.

At the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA), she served as the Secretariat for the Beer Industry Electronic Commerce Coalition. She also managed the Alcohol Beverage Industry Electronic Commerce Group at the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association (NABCA) where she helped transition ANSI ASC X12 industry wine and spirit guidelines into the Uniform Communication Standard and used by the grocery industry and other retail-oriented industry sectors under GS1 US.

Hilaski earned a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral and Social Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is an active administrative volunteer for the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department. She can be reached at SHilaski@apsp.org.
